At this point you have been practicing yoga to the point that you have caught the yoga bug and you find yourself making a point of getting some yoga practice into a daily schedule. You may be hoping that you had more time or resources to deepen your understanding and knowledge of yoga. If you feel that you do not have enough of yoga, want to learn more, share what you know you should start to think about going for your own yoga teacher training certificate.
Before you go apply to a training program there are some basic things that you should be aware of. Why do I want to go through yoga teacher training? Are you looking to deepen your personal practice, your knowledge or become a teacher? If you want to become a yoga teacher than you should begin with talking to your current yoga teachers and asking them where they went through training and what kind of programs you should be looking for to get to where you want to be.
Another topic to consider when thinking of going through yoga teacher training is what kind of students do you wish to have? Do you want to be able to work with children, seniors, women during pregnancy, or people that suffer from illness? Most schools have certain areas of focus so if you have a specific area of interest you must make certain that those areas are covered in training.
What kind of Training Program
Depending on what kind of schedule and lifestyle you have, you may want to take advantage of training that meets fewer times but for extending lengths of time. This may be more convenient for you if you have a busy lifestyle…take yoga teacher training programs over a one week vacation or in between jobs. There are other training programs that meet on weekends for those that are obligated with busy schedules.
Ishta Yoga
ISHTA yoga is the acronym that means Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda. It was created by Yogiraj Alan Finger and his father Kavi Yogi Mani Finger in South Africa as a special tribute for all the different styles of yoga that had passed through the area. This style is now offered across the world. Yoga certification is available if you do your research for a true training location of Ishta Yoga.
What makes Ishta Yoga Different?
ISHTA Yoga puts its value on the fact that it is a style that has integrated and balanced ideals from other styles into this one. It takes the physical asana from Hatha Yoga, yogi theory from Tantra, and finding internal and external balance from Ayurveda Yoga.
Teacher Training
There are 200 hour, 300 hour and 500 hour yoga teacher training programs available to you in Ishta yoga style. Training will emphasize all levels of practice and for all kinds of students. These training programs will encourage individuality and give each person in training the time to discover and define their own path. You must take the 500 hour training program to be allowed to offer Ishta yoga classes to your students after training. There is also a membership that applies to this training and certificate.
You will focus on meditation, postural alignment, asana, pranayama, Tantric philosophy, anatomy, yoga history, pre=natal yoga, Sanskrit, injury management, restorative yoga, and voice projection during a class session. The teachings will be guided based on the ancient wisdom of traditional India teachings of yoga but also incorporate the modern world perspectives and approaches.
Are You Ready?
Whether you choose to do a long or quick intensive yoga teacher training, you must have a serious personal commitment. You will be involved in lectures, different yoga classes, and expected to do some study and reading of history and philosophy. Thinking about all the tasks ahead of you in this training journey may seem intimidating but once you get started and have the passion for it will be well worth all the work and time involved. Remember to think about why you wanted to take this journey.
Anamaya Resort may not offer Ishta Yoga certification but they want the yoga community to be aware of the different styles of yoga that are available to future practice.
