Vinyasa flow yoga is a style that has several physical and mental benefits to a regular practice. When you practice this style of yoga or go through yoga teacher training the poses that you move through create an internal heat in your body. This heat will help purify the muscles and organs by helping to rid your body of unwanted toxins in the form of sweat. By helping rid yourself of these toxins you are making it healthier. Through practice and the increase of body heat you are also stimulating your blood flow to different parts of your body. As the blood carries the nutrients and oxygen through the body to different organs and body systems you are replenishing and feeding them energy. Yoga teachers will get you moving and sweating in no time!
The heat of a strong practice also protects you from injuries because you are keep the muscles loosened up and the tendons and ligaments are staying lubricated and keeping them flexible. This gives you the opportunity to move into a deeper stretch. Yoga teaching will help you warm up and then move into these deeper poses. The instruction you are given through yoga teacher training will discuss how certain things will keep your body in a safer practice.
Control of your body
Through Vinyasa Flow yoga we focus on our synchronized breathing which helps us focus and bring control to our bodies. This breathing style will help relax the mind and boy and release energy through the body. Through the deep breathing the rich oxygenated blood brings energy back through the body to several main organs such as your brain, heart, kidney, and liver and helps to bring blood through the body.
5 Ways to create a Vinyasa Flow Yoga Sequence
- Vinyasa which means flow is sometimes a point of confusions for many that practice yoga. Vinyasa may refer to a series of poses which are known as sun salutations that are used to help wake up the mind and body. Vinyasas can be used by themselves for a shorter yoga routine, or added to the beginning of a yoga sequence. Vinyasa also refers to the term and style of practice which focuses on a slow, even and natural flow that moves from one pose directly to the next.
- Practice brings knowledge and once you have learned how to properly do the yoga poses, the next trick is learning how to sequence them. If you need to refer back to pictures of the poses that is aright but it may be more beneficial to practice a known yoga sequence for your home practice and learn this style with an instructor. Taking breaks between poses to learn what to do defeats the purpose of the sequence.
- Variation of poses gives you the opportunity to create your own sequence. You can get rid of some of the yoga series but you cannot change the order in which they are practiced. The series and order are to begin with sun salutations which are followed by standing poses like warrior, crescent, side bends and triangle which then move into balancing poses, standing forward backbends, backbends, abdominal poses, inversions, hip openers, seated forward bends, twists and sleeping poses, ending always with Savasana and meditation.
- When creating your sequencing you need to use all of the series as long as your practice stays under a 90 minute session time. Of course, each routine should begin with the sun salutations and end in Savasana, but you can choose one series and do it repeating times, or you can choose a variety that deals with one area of the body or emotional need. It is always smart to take your time to do some research on the benefits of the poses and that should help you determine which poses to choose for your sequences.
- Use your creativity and knowledge to know which poses fit into your sequences so that it comes easily and naturally to you through your practice. Finding the right flow of poses will take some time and practice and an effort to find which ones work and learn new poses to substitute in; however it is always a rewarding part to be able to create your own practice and routines.
Sessions
Most Vinyasa yoga sessions and yoga teachers will keep a class going for 45 minutes to an hour due to the intensity of the style. Vinyasa Flow yoga is a fast-paced style so if you are not fit this session will feel longer than it is to you. Make sure you have a water body and stay hydrated through this practice to avoid problems. Yoga teacher training will give you examples of what styles of yoga are better for the beginner and which styles may be more suitable for the person that is very athletic and fit.
